Creative Gift-Giving

You still have those few people on your list who are just tough to find the right gift for and we're just over two weeks away! A creative gift basket might be just your answer! Consider the recipient's hobbies, interests or major events in their lives at this time. A gardener would love this bag full of tools, gloves, seeds, lotion, fragrant rosemary, a gardening book, all in a handy tote.
For the reader, fill a tote with books, bookplates, reading glasses, light, bookmarks and snacks to enjoy while reading. Give Dad a pail of peanuts stuffed with his favorite jerky, salsa, pretzels and snacks, and a gift card to buy himself that tool he wants.

Movie buffs will love this popcorn filled bucket of movie-sized snacks, DVD's and gift-cards to the theater.

Kids love to craft, especially if they can do it while you do your own scrapbooking or sewing. A cute craft bucket filled with scissors, glue, foam sheets, markers, pom poms and trims, felt, paper and more will surely delight.
Grandma will love this basket filled with books to read with the grandchildren, snacks, a picture of that special child and toys for the babies. Wrap it up with a cozy throw and storytime begins.
Couples of all ages will love this romantic basket filled with gourmet foods, candles, sparkling cider and champagne flutes, romantic CD and a framed picture of the couple.

Food themed baskets are always a bit hit. This bounty of Italian food and music is a perfect gift for anyone. And who wouldn't enjoy this basket of thirsty towels and bath products!

Or make a Spa Getaway Basket with lotions, loofahs, truffles, candles and relaxing CD. A Christmas basket might be just the right thing this year. Fill a festive box with cocoa and mugs, Christmas candy, scented candles, a Christmas book, an ornament and CD. Be sure to tie it up with jingling bells.Creative gifting with baskets full of treasures are always a hit and easy to create; the possibilities are endless!

DECORATE YOUR THANKSGIVING TABLE

Thanksgiving is here and a festive centerpiece is easy to create for your holiday table. Place a candle in a large vase or hurricane jar, then fill around the candle with things already in your kitchen -- wheat, popcorn, nuts, wild rice, dried beans, etc. Use a variety of colors and textures to create in interesting design. For a large table, group several jars together. (The hurricanes below have been filled with wheat, sytrofoam beads and hazelnuts.)
Remember a few design tips and tricks: Fill the jar or vase between one-third and half full. More than halfway will look out of balance. If your candle is too short then fill the very bottom of your jar with wheat or rice and then place a small plastic container or can upside down in the vase. Place the candle on top of the container and then cover with filler. Styrofoam beads are available in many colors from most craft store and are inexpensive and bring great color.
