DECORATE YOUR THANKSGIVING TABLE

Thanksgiving is here and a festive centerpiece is easy to create for your holiday table. Place a candle in a large vase or hurricane jar, then fill around the candle with things already in your kitchen -- wheat, popcorn, nuts, wild rice, dried beans, etc. Use a variety of colors and textures to create in interesting design. For a large table, group several jars together. (The hurricanes below have been filled with wheat, sytrofoam beads and hazelnuts.)
Remember a few design tips and tricks: Fill the jar or vase between one-third and half full. More than halfway will look out of balance. If your candle is too short then fill the very bottom of your jar with wheat or rice and then place a small plastic container or can upside down in the vase. Place the candle on top of the container and then cover with filler. Styrofoam beads are available in many colors from most craft store and are inexpensive and bring great color.
